TV “Tuesday”: A Song of Ice and Fire

tuesday tv meme

Well it’s not Tuesday for me anymore, but Tuesday somewhere, I guess… Either way, thanks to Codie’s awesome new meme, I have an excuse to talk about my all-time favourite shows Game of Thrones and do a roundup of what was a spectacular Season 6 (I’m biased).

Game of Thrones1

At this stage, Game of Thrones really needs no introduction- especially not from me. As you all know, I’m completely obsessed! (Obviously, since I couldn’t even go a week without talking about it- and let’s face it- I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the year without it- unless by some miracle Winds of Winter comes out). But just to give you some context, I watched Season 1 wayy back when it first came out and was so in love with it that in the summer I whizzed through all 5 books…. But when I finished A Dance with Dragons, I was dismayed to discover that  George R R Martin takes quite a while in between books :/ Like, a really, really long time (for anyone that doesn’t know). So I, like everyone else, waited with baited breath to see what would happen next, and this year, when the series finally overtook the book, fans of the show were rewarded with some spectacular reveals and some of the best scenes I’ve ever seen on TV!

For a more in depth look at each episode, feel free to check out my reviews for episode, feel free to check out my reviews by episode.

  1. I love game of thrones. I’ve read the first two books and am halfway through the third. I also only just started watching the series so hopefully I can catch up really quickly

  2. Haha, it’s Tuesday here so you’re good. I’m so happy you enjoy doing this meme, and thanks for the kind words 🙂 I actually saw the series before reading the book also. I’m currently on book 2 (I’m so terrible with series) and only on season four of the tv series (did I mention I’m bad with tv series too?), which is the only reason I skip over the spoilers in your GoT episode reviews, which are awesome by the way. This is a great TV Tuesday!!

    1. haha thanks!! I definitely do!! ahh that’s fair enough- I flag it up to make it as obvious as possible- cos I don’t want to spoil it for anyone!! You have lots to look forward to either way! (don’t worry I won’t say anymore). Thanks so much!

      1. You’re welcome! I’m really excited to finally watch and read the series to completion (although neither one is complete). Haha, Yes I’ve seen the warning signs, they’re everywhere lol.

  3. This is a fun post. I love Game of Thrones and I love reading your reviews for each episode, but I must admit I haven’t finished the current season yet. Oh the shame I know. 🙈 I was a bit annoyed with some of the dull scenes and stopped for a while. Drew actually gave me some spoilers without realizing I didn’t finish watching it yet, so I have a rough idea of how the season ends. It’s been so chaotic lately I haven’t watched any TV. I was planning to watch it over from the beginning of season 6. I also was annoyed when I found out how long it took GRRM to write books. 20 years from the first one until now and it’s not finished is just insane. How does he not know his ending by now to write them? It makes no sense to me. That’s why I never read more than the first book. Okay I’m done ranting. 😉

    1. Ahh thanks! That’s fair enough- something to look forward to- cos the last few episodes were incredible!! Don’t worry about the dull scenes- it gets better! That’s a shame! Hopefully nothing to major! Ah yes- it is insane!! Especially when you put it like that! I think he knows the end- he just says it takes a long time :/ haha fair dos

  4. I can’t read because I haven’t seen the season yeeeeeet 😦
I gave up on the books. The writing is just meh, and the world will come to an end before Martin releases new books.

  5. I still haven’t watched Game of Thrones because someone said they show a scene with someone skinning an animal of some sort and it just put me off. I can deal with dead humans and whatnot, but skinning an animal I don’t even want to think about 0_o

    1. haha fair enough! There was this version of Wuthering Heights I couldn’t deal with cos of all the weird animal torture. Have to say I don’t remember animals getting skinned- but that’s cos I’m kind of distracted by all the violence towards people

  6. My recent coping mechanism was to listen to Hardcore Game of Thrones. Have you listened to it? Gosh, I loved it. There’re only 8 episodes and they detail the beginning of Westeros up to the War of the 5 Kings and the results of that but the awesome thing about it is how the retell it all. It’s like a spoof of Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History, which I’m enjoying now. I wish there were more episodes. They pointed out stuff I didn’t notice and they take info mostly from the books but also reference the show too. You can listen the first 3 parts for free here: https://soundcloud.com/earwolf-presents/hgot-shadow-of-the-dragon-pt-i

  7. Am I allowed to talk about the ending? Am I? Damn. Don’t want spoilers. Well when the person that sat in that chair sat in that chair I almost squealed in excitement. So excited for that. And that cake? I wonder how it rose. My baking teacher says baking is very delicate and any mistake would mess it up. Huh.

    1. Well- I saw the ending- so you definitely can!! I *loved* those last two episodes!! Ahh yes- can you believe that I actually didn’t see that person sitting in that chair? Well- that’s mostly cos I didn’t expect the person that had been sitting in that chair to vacate it so abruptly 😉

      1. I agree. I mean why would they want to vacate it! When the world was their oyster (for a while anyway) and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
