Well I’m a little late to the Corrupt Me party, but better late than never… Anyhoo for those of you that don’t know Corrupt Me is the debut novel of the lovely Jillian Quinn (otherwise known as Rant and Rave About Books)
I will admit that New Adult is not my usual genre, although I do like a good romance, and I was certainly rewarded with one. Not only was this a very satisfying read, but Luca, the love interest, was sexy as hell.
So sexy that I will freely admit that in this explosive pairing, I often felt like “team Luca” in their relationship (not that I should have been picking sides or anything- but sometimes I wanted Izzy to give him a break) In the end though I was just rooting for them to end up together.
Now as you would expect there are plenty of sexy times- but this book builds up to it nicely- especially as Jill stays true to her nice little notion that anticipation is better than the kiss.
What’s great about this book is all the hidden depths- Jill’s interests shine through and I just loved the little nods to the Godfather. There are subtle undercurrents of crime. And there’s plenty of mention of pizza (no book inspired by anything Italian would be complete without pizza).
But the most important thing I took away from this book was Jill is so right- Axe is woman repellent (I swear there needs to be a public announcement to all men)
Rating: 3½/5 bananas
Have you read Jill’s book? Do you plan to? Let me know in the comments!
