Q&A Part 3 – The Cat Edition

Hello again- it’s been what, a few hours? Did you miss me? Just here to conclude my Q&A in a post that talks an awful lot about cats. Anyhoo, please do check out all the lovely people who asked questions and feel free to check out parts 1 and 2.

NEL @ REACTIONARY TALES

I would ask you if you’ve ever been to the states?

Sadly only as a layover (and btw my only impression was that the security is super strict, they took my fingerprints just for the privilege of going from one end of the airport to the other and grilled me about whether I wanted to stay forever…)

Is orangutan your favourite animal?

Well… This confession might get me in trouble, but my actual favourite animal is an ocelot. And also CATSSS in general

orangutan and ocelot

Which makes sense if you think about it, cos it’d be silly if it was an orangutan- like a human whose fave animal was a human…

Have you ever been to a book expo and/or met one of your favourite authors?

I’ve never had the chance to go to a book expo, BUT I was actually really lucky as a child that quite a few authors came to the schools I went to- the best one was the author of the Noughts and Crosses series Malorie Blackman

Malorie Blackman June 2008

Also, can I come visit?

Haha sure, if you’re ever in London hit me up and we’ll go for tea 😉

42 is the meaning of life eh? Why 42?

Hehe and yes, Daley kindly answered, but just to clarify- 42 is the meaning of life according to Douglas Adams

BOOKSTOOGE

What is your deepest, darkest secret? The one you swore a blood oath to never reveal. Because we want to know.
*the following is to be said in Valley Girl accent*
“And we’re obviously WAY more important than some blood oath, duh!”

Hahaha well I have to confess now and this relates to my mentioning of CATSSS before- I have been harbouring a fugitive- meet Cecil the Lion:

cecil the lion 2.png

I am so full of pride that I managed to keep it a secret for this long, but I suppose the cat’s out of the bag now… (yes I did just share that so I could make that joke #noshame)

MARIE @ DRIZZLE AND HURRICANE BOOKS

What countries / cities would you like to visit ?

I’d really really like to go to Athens is at the top of my list right now (so maybe I’ll get to go in a few years 😉 )

athens]

Not really a question but would you share MORE about your WIP? Like, a snippet, a sentence or anything?!

Haha I’m so stingy with info about my WIP, I just get too nervous about sharing anything, but here’s a pithy line from the last chapter I edited:

“Power was a treasure trove and all politics was piracy”

What’s your favourite animal ?

lions-and-tigers-and-bears-oh-my

JK but as you may have noticed from my early cat-related comments, I do really like CATTTS, specifically ocelots.

What’s one thing that other people do that you can’t stand?

Ask me if I’ve been blessed by the beautiful light that is JC… and by that I mean Jeremy Corbyn (hello Corbynistas- please can you stop spamming me- thanks!) So yeah, annoying political spammers…

jeremy corbyn.png
Adding this picture in because spammers actually got the original meme taken down 😂

Did you think you’d blog for so long?

To be honest, I *never* thought I would fall in love with blogging like this. When I first started I was blogging I wrote a post a month and just thought I’d review books every so often.

BRUCEONTHEFRINGE

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island and the waves were about to wash away the complete collection of Terry Pratchett’s books and you only had time to save one, which would it be?

mort nice edition

OH GOD SO HARD!! I’m gonna go with Mort, but I’m so tempted to say Going Postal or arghhh see what I mean, hard!

Also, if you weren’t an orang-utan what other creature would you like to be? (mooses are pretty awesome)

Hahaha moose are awesome! I think this post might be getting feline heavy- so I’m gonna pick a penguin. I mean check out their waddle 😉

BOOKS, VERTIGO AND TEA

If you had to compare yourself to a fictional character, who would it be and why?

Well I always think something of a cross between Luna Lovegood and Alice

Do you have a favorite recipe for bananas?

I like banana bread but I am a horrible horrible baker.

What is something that the blogging community does not know about you?

Haha today is just full of confessions, isn’t it? Hmm some people are actually surprised to find out I like dresses (oh and I’m also a girl, not everyone knows that)

orangutan in dress

DANI @ PERSPECTIVE OF A WRITER

What book describes you best? (Is it a particular character, the cover or the story?) Oh and it would be super cool if you could draw something for your super reveal post!

isla and the happily ever after

Hard question! I think I find more in common with characters, rather than stories or covers. I’ve already mentioned Luna and Alice, but I think someone else who I really relate to is Isla from Isla and the Happily Ever After. And even though the story doesn’t really describe my life (I mean, there is a distinct absence of bananas) I feel like I’d have done *a lot* of the same things in her position.

(I also hope I fulfilled the drawing requirement 😉 )

So that’s all for today- hope you enjoyed these Q&As- I certainly enjoyed making them! And now I want to know what is *your* favourite animal? And how do you feel about CATSSS? Let me know in the comments!

  2. Reactionary Reads!!! HAHAHA Why didn’t I think that?!
Turtles are MY FAV! I like cats too. I used to hate them but the two I rescued/adopted changed my mind. I love your orangutan drawings!!! Especially the one in the polka dot dress. This Q&A was definitely a great idea. I had so much fun reading them!

      1. No need to apologize. I’m literally considering changing the name cause I really like that, hahahaha. You draw them yourself yeah? I wish I had a tiny bit of drawing talent.

  3. I want to go to Athens too! THE DRAWINGS were KILLER! Really loved them ❤️ I’ve never read the Isla books but now I’m so intrigued… it is now on my TBR! My favorite animal are dragons or ferrets… I’ve got to go fantasy all the way! BUT I ADORE cats too, I had a cat all growing up. In fact we had two cats from the same litter that were in love and so wild they ran away as babies and set up house in the green belt behind our house. True story. 😂

And then… you were like- I like dresses, oh and I’m also a girl, not everyone knows that… The PC Police loves you because guys can love dresses as well and I love how you innocently delivered that I’m a girl statement after saying you love dresses! 😀

    1. hehehehehe this comment made me laugh so much!! Thank you for that!!! hahahaha I know right- it was tragic, but don’t worry, he’s safe with me 😉
hahahaha well I’m always sending out signals for the PC police 😉 They love me 😉 I do so look forward to every time they send me a gazillion messages when I say something “wrong” 😉 😂😂😂

      1. 😀 LOL! I really really love you because you’re opinionated but you can also understand an nonPC joke.. if that makes sense… you’re cool, is what I’m trying to say!

Hey, do you really get gazillion messages from people who take offence? Gosh, how do you deal? I always think if ever there’s a day when someone comes to complain to me, I’d be like- whatever, go whinge elsewhere and just ignore 😀 that’s bound t piss em off more.. what do you do? any good debates? I bet there has been good debates!

        1. hahaha yes thank you so much!!! 😀
Hehe yes- a fair number of comments but not too many- and one person tweeted at me incessantly for one of my more controversial posts. I tried to explain myself, they weren’t interested, so I left them to their *RAGE* 😉 I usually ignore them though (I only answered cos I used to follow them and was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). Hehehe well I do find debating fun- but usually these aren’t so intellectually stimulating 😉 I think a good solution is to recommend books (tried and tested on persistent trolls 😉 )

  5. Oh, I love cats as well! I had a big black tomcat back in Germany, when I was still living with my parents. He just turned up one day and never left again haha 😀 He was living in the shed and always brought us little presents, like mice, birds and baby rabbits… …. He also was super cuddly! And once ran against a tree. And caught fire because he had to jump on a table and elegantly walk over a candle! Best cat ever!

Just because of that, I can’t imagine ever having a cat again. because he was so perfect.. I do have rabbits and chickens now and want some sheep and maybe goats and perhaps a donkey and 2 dogs. 😀

I can’t say I know what exactly is going on with politics in the UK. Everything I know is what John Oliver tells me 😀 Long live Lord Buckethead!

    1. hahahaha aww sweet (minus the dead animal presents, of course 😉 though it’s sweet in its own weird way 😉 ) Oh my goodness- what a cat!!! Sounds like he had nine lives 😉 (or at least 3)
hehehe well that’s cool!! I doubt any dog could live upto that.
Haha yeahhh don’t trust John Oliver’s position on the UK- it’s just a smidgen biased and he’s been out of it for ages so he’s not much of an authority beyond his accent… I like his stuff, but when he talks about UK politics I’m facepalming

  6. I am also a horrible baker. Too many rules! And who needs all those cups and spoons cluttering up everything. 😂

I also love CATSSS! All the best people do.

  7. Cats are completely the best! (Of course we know there’d be no arguments from me…)

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS HAVING TO CHOOSE ONLY ONE PRATCHETT BOOK. I’m pretty sure that goes against the laws of the Multi-verse, and as the waves arose, Death would show up and sweep them all into a big sack on Binky’s back, to make sure that the world wouldn’t end.

    *priorities*

  8. Love your drawings! They fit so perfectly to these questions. As if you future you came and warned you about them.

I actually have a cat–they’re pretty awesome–and my favourite animal is actually Bengal tigers (especially white tigers). 😀 😀 If my cat could grow into one, I’d be a happy chap. Or even if he could grow into Bagheera. That’be pretty epic. 😛

  9. Ocelots are sooo cute OMG!! I can’t stand it! T_T And Cecil the Lion! And penguins! ARGH your post is giving me diabetes ❤
People assume girls don't talk about politics for some reason. Maybe that's why your genre might baffle them from time to time… Eh.
    Loved all your answers! 🙂

    1. hehehehehehe oh my gosh dying from laughter!! I’m so glad you like it!!
I know right!! I think I definitely talk about a lot of things that not all girls do (like football tbh)… but then I gush over a girly books too 😉 😀
      Thank you so much!! 😀

  10. Oo good answers! See now I’m going to have to get round to reading Going Postal! Penguins are great but yeah, cats are awesome, and they have a much easier life – have you seen any documentaries on penguins?
That is one seriously hard life. Unless you’re a penguin at Edinburgh Zoo, they have it pretty good. Also enjoyed your answer for which fictional character you’d compare yourself to, ok, so a cross between Luna Lovejoy and Alice, wow, your head must be a strange and wonderful place! ☺

    1. Thank you!!! hehehe it’s excellent!! One of my faves 😀 And they are- oh you’re right- I don’t like the cold so I can’t imagine actually being a penguin, even in Edinburgh, though I will admit Sir Nils Olav has it pretty good!! 😉
hehehe thank you!! It is 😉

  11. I always believe if ever there’s a twenty-four hours when mortal comes to plain to me, I’d be like- whatever, go whinge elsewhere and just cut 😀 that’s apprenticed t piss em off more.
    hahaha I love right field!
