The Candy Book Tag

It’s Halloween season, I’m starting to see the decorations go up everywhere, which means of course that it’s CANDY TIME!!

Thank you so much to the wonderful Rivermoose Reads and the supremely sweet Sophie @Blame Chocolate– check out they’re blogs cos they’re awesome!!

(also I have a ridiculously sweet tooth, so I will be eating a bag of jelly bellies while I do this… I blame the tag 😉 )

Apples – Ah. Healthy food. It is deep, meaningful, and probably won a lot of awards but, um, it really isn’t your thing.

Ah I’m sorry to say this, but I’ve never read a stream of consciousness book that I’ve enjoyed, so I’m sad to say I didn’t like One Hundred Years of Solitude, even if I get why others do.

one hundred years of solitude

Milk Chocolate – This is a book you’d recommend to absolutely EVERYONE.

Gosh there’s so many books I could put here, but I’m going to go with Man’s Search for Meaning– it is honestly the most profound and impactful book I have ever read and I can’t recommend it enough.

man's search for meaning

Black Jellybeans – Why do these exist??

I *hate* black jellybeans with a passion, so I have to come up with a suitably gross book, and it really can only be Wideacre. Why? Because even a black jelly baby is not as yucky as this book!

wideacre

Chocolate Kisses – Awww this novel had the best romance.

It’s gotta be an Austen doesn’t it? I mean, those are the rules…

those are the rules

(okay probably a strange choice of meme for this question)

Anyhoo… I’m going with Persuasion!

persuasion

Gummy Spiders – Eek! You made sure to check under your bed every night for a week after reading this scary one.

Hehe well I’m easily scared, so I was freaked out by Through the Woods– all those scary, scary illustrations *shivers*

through the woods

Jumbo Lollipop – This took you forever to get through, but hey! You did it!

Well I’m going to go with a positive one for this and say War and Peace– cos yes, of course it took ages, but man, it was so worth it!!

war and peace

Cotton Candy – Admit it, you loved this when you were younger (you probably still do). Think children’s or MG fiction.

Gotta admit, I still love candy floss!! I have so so many answers for this- but I’m just gonna pick Peter Pan for now!

peter pan and wendy

Well that was a fun tag and now I’m all out of sugary treats, I should probably eat something more substantial… like cake! Before I go, I tag:

Sherbet Lemon Reviews, My Life as a Sports Fangirl, My Midnight Musing, Keira, Marie’s Library, Never Not Reading and Wonderfilled Reads

And today, I’m gonna ask what’s your favourite sweet? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Candy wise, I love heath bars and whoppers. Sweets in general? Probably cinnamon rolls but I love this time of year cause pumpkin pie. That’s the extent of my pumpkiness, haha

  2. I like jelly beans. And what’s more, I like BLACK jellybeans the best. For real. I could eat a bag of those things.

Thankfully you redeemed yourself with Persuasion and War and Peace. But I have to say, our friendship was definitely on shaky ground for at least a solid 5 seconds!

  3. Loved all your choices! It’s been a long time goal of mine to read War and Peace, but then I look at the size and back away. It’s just too much! You can kill a guy with that book! I’m also afraid I won’t like it after having a not so pleasant experience with another extremely large Russian novel, The Brothers Karamazov. But, one of these days I’ll read that behemoth of a novel. That and Gone with the Wind, and Les Miserables. One day, but not today lol.

  4. Oh God, I’ve already got a sweet tooth all year round but Halloween just seems to flare up that side of me too 😂
I knew Wideacre would be featured in that question, I just knew it! And I really, really want to read Persuasion. It sounds just like my kind of love story.
Great post! And thanks for the lovely shout-out ❤️

  5. Such an awesome tag and I completely agree about Through the Woods. The illustrations were so spooky and they scared me even though I read it during the day.

Omg, I love candy! I’m obsessed with those Trolli Sour Weird Beards, they’re modeled after James Harden or the beardiest (is that a word?) NBA player. I also love love love white chocolate like Kit Kats, Reese cups, m&m’s, cookies & creme bars and Lindt. I could go on and on haha.

Thank you for tagging me, I loved reading your post and hopefully, you don’t mind the extremely long comment about candy 😛

    1. Thank you so much!! Yes I know right!!! (I also made the mistake of reading it before bed lol 😉 )

Yes it’s the best!!! hehehe gosh I don’t know what those trolli things are- but since I love sour sweets, like those haribo sour cherries, I bet I’d love those too! And yum- I especially like M&M’s, cookies and creme eggs! Though I cannot live without Lindt!!!

Your’re welcome!! Thank you! hehehe no, I loved it!! 😀

  6. This looks like such a fun tag! Personally I also hate black jelly beans, but I have plenty of coworkers who LOVE them. I tried to like them! I really did!
That’s so awesome that you’ve read War and Peace. It’s one of the books that intimidate me, but I do want to read it one day 🙂

  7. I love kinder bueno and Cadbury! Not sure whether these fit into the candy category or not lol.

On a side note, can I do this tag? *insert countless pleading eyes emoji here* I really need something to make me snap out of the blogging slump and a tag is a fun way to do.

  8. Lovely answers to this tag! 🙂 I so want to read Through the Woods, it sounds really creepy and usually, I’m not a fan of these kind of books, but there’s something about that one… I’m curious about it ahah 🙂

  9. Persuasion has such an amazing romance! It’s probably my favourite right after Pride and Prejudice. 🙂 Through the Woods has such beautiful but very scary illustrations! I love that graphic novel and I definitely need to reread it this month!
War and Peace is a book that I have wanted to read for ages, but never actually picked up because of how long it is and how much time it will take me to read it. I love Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, so I at least know that I will enjoy the writing style. We shall see when I will actually get around to reading it! 😀

    1. It really is!! It’s my favourite right after Emma (then Pride and Prejudice lol) 🙂 It really does- I loved it too- I saw it in the library again and was so tempted to pick it up, even though I read it only a few months ago. It’s actually really wonderful- I actually preferred it to Anna Karenina! (although I really liked that- I just wasn’t too keen on the opening and closing parts on farming) I really hope you like it when you get round to it! 😀

      1. Haha, to each their own! My third favourite is Emma! 😀 I’m just really into the hate to love trope. It’s definitely tempting to reread, especially since it’s a short read as well. I see, that actually makes me even more exited to pick it up. OMG!! All the farming was killing me as well, I needed to read it for school and hold a discussion on it, so I actually had to read those parts as well – I just couldn’t skip them and they were torture!

        1. hehehe that’s so funny! To be honest, I love them all- they’re all five star reads to me, so it’s literally just a matter of which one I love more (and that’s been known to change 😉 ) I totally get that!! I love it!! Awesome!! Hehe I know right- oh no!! I read them (cos I just felt like I had to) but if you asked what happened there I couldn’t tell you, cos I must have glazed it over in my mind!!

  10. Cool tag 🙂
When it comes to candy or sweets in general, I don’t need halloween for that 😀 hahaha… no but seriously I consider myself more of a non-sweet snacks snacker! 😀
Also- you reminded me of some books with this post that I still have to check out/get!

  11. I know it’s not the first time you’ve mentioned the awesomeness of Through the Woods and I still don’t know why I haven’t added it to my TBR yet. Let’s just say it’s now done and I’m looking forward to the day I get to see how spooky it really is. 😀
