I’ve been coming on a little strong lately and today I’m gonna kill all the Valentine’s Day vibes… by pushing some fictional characters off a cliff. Because, why not? 😉
Thank you so much to the amazing Beth– who mixes up memes, reviews, discussions and awesome features like reading around the world- so worth checking out!
And thank you to the lovely Kat– who not only talks a ton about books and writing, but is also the QUEEN of TV- and really knows her stuff about all the shows you should be watching!
Anyhoo- I was tagged in both the cliff/kill version, but am going with the cliff title today 😉
I decided to use Beth’s rules:
- Put names of characters, written on separate pieces of papers, in an empty jar or a pen holder.
- Shake the jar.
- Pull out three pieces of paper in each round and tell us which character you would kiss, marry, or cliff!
And Kat did 10 rounds so that’s how many I’m doing
Round 1: Voldemort, Celaena Sardothian, Dracula
Huh, straight out the gate with the difficult questions.
Kiss: I don’t think it’d be too terrible kissing Celaena
Marry: a little part of me has always fancied being a bride of Dracula
Cliff: Voldy’s obviously got to die
Round 2: Elizabeth Bennet, Smaug, Ramsay Bolton
Okay, I’m gonna be tactical with this one. Because somehow I don’t think kissing Ramsay or Smaug would work out well for me (either I’d get a knife to the gut or burnt to a crisp).
Kiss: I reckon I wouldn’t die kissing Elizabeth
Marry: and I’d be a wealthy lady if I married Smaug (provided he didn’t eat me)
Cliff: Ramsay. Easy.
Round 3: Edward Cullen, Renesmee, Mark Watney
I can’t kill a baby!! (even a freaky CGI one) So I guess…
Kiss: Renesmee (on the forehead)
Marry: Mark Watney (no hardship there)
Cliff: Edward Cullen (and no loss)
Actually this has all worked out pretty well.
Round 4: Darkling, Uhtred of Bebbanburg, Walder Frey
Kiss: THE DARKLING!!!
Marry: UHTRED!!!
Cliff: WALDER FREY!!!!!!
(I got a little overexcited for that one)
Round 5: Atticus Finch, The Librarian, Vetinari
Ermm I should have thought more carefully about putting the Librarian on this list, cos I can’t kiss or marry a character who is basically me?!
Kiss: I’ll negotiate a kiss out of Vetinari… somehow.
Marry: Atticus is definitely marriage material
Cliff: In a very dark turn of events I guess I’ll have to throw myself off a cliff rather than kill characters I actually like (yeah, I’m focusing on the self-sacrificing element rather than at all the ways logic fails here)
Round 6: Kaz Brekker, Gollum, Dolores Umbridge
Kiss: ugh… at least kissing Umbridge will be hygienic.
Marry: I’m definitely marrying Kaz.
Cliff: Gollum can go off a cliff… into mount doom.
Round 7: Gandalf, Peter Pan, Dorian Gray
Kiss: a shallow part of me would like to kiss Dorian Gray, but I’ll make the excuse that it’s so I don’t end up molesting a child.
Marry: Gandalf- I mean, he’s old, but ditto that he’s not a child.
Cliff: so I guess I’m very kindly pushing Peter Pan off a cliff (he can fly, he can fly, he can fly, as he’s so fond of telling us)
Round 8: Baz, Harry Potter, William Herondale
Damn, hard! It’s actually worse when I like them all.
Kiss: I think I’d better borrow Baz from Simon for a quick kiss (at least I’d enjoy it)
Marry: Will- and there won’t be any love triangle with Jem for me!
Cliff: annnd that just leaves Harry to get pushed off a cliff. I think Harry often gets the short end of the stick in my tags- oh well my advice to him is: “try accio broomstick… if you can” 😉
Round 9: Ebenezer Scrooge, Aslan, Richard III
Kiss: Hmm I think Ebenezer isn’t the worst, so I’d give him a peck (maybe it’d cheer him up before all the ghosts have to intervene).
Marry: obviously Aslan- I’d basically be married to god- no dice.
Cliff: Richard III- he deserves it.
Round 10: America Singer, Katniss Everdeen, Bilbo Baggins
Kiss: Katniss- she’d put up too much of a fight for the cliff
Marry: I feel like I’d be pretty happily married to Bilbo (a cosy hobbit hole, smoking *ahem* leaf, and over eating… yeah I could get on board with that).
Cliff: America Singer- quite happily- she’s such an irritating character.
Okay, on that remorseless note, I tag:
Zezee, Winged Cynic, Rebecca, Sam, Samantha, Noriko, Kat@Art of Feels, Journey into Books, Carrie@Cat on the Bookshelf and Little Booky Nook
So that went in surreal directions- what do you think of my answers? Let me know in the comments!
Oh great answers for this tag! 🙂 I was glad to see that Walter Frey and Ramsey Bolton ended up cliffed. Honestly for those two characters there’s really no other option is there? Also I would have really struggled with Round Nine if I’d picked those characters too, I love them all but in the end I would have gone for the same options you did, and maybe hoped Harry had a chance to do his Accio Firebolt spell before reaching the bottom of the cliff! 😀 Again great picks and great post as well. 🙂 ❤️

Omg! That was hilarious! Thank you for making my day! I would marry Uhtred too and get excited about it, lol! Some of the other answers were tough though, idk. You are rough on poor HP, hahaha! 🙂

You’re welcome! Yes! I love Uhtred…I’ve read all the books, but I really hope they come out with a 3rd season of the show!! Yes, you are, lol. Poor HP! LOL! 😉

hehe yes me too! I’m actually only onto the second book now, but I’ve seen the show (and I’ve heard it should be returning later this year- by then I should have caught up with the books lol 😉 ) hahaha!

Oh yay, someone else whose read them! I binged them in 2 weeks after watching season 1, lol. Then I had to wait for the new book and new season and was depressed! I’m glad there will be a new season. I hadn’t heard, but that means I won’t see it until 2019, boo! Another reason I need to live in the UK 😂

hahaha I’m currently bingeing them for the same reason lol! I enjoyed it way too much!! (it was the only way I could handle the TV hangover after I finished watching the show- I don’t have any idea what I’ll do when I’m done with the books… find something new to obsess over I guess 😉 ) hahaha 😂

That’s funny! It’s such a great show though! Books too! Glad I’m not the only one 😊 That’s what I did after watching Poldark even though I’d read the books in high school, lol. Maybe some new show will come on you can obsess over, lol! I’m waiting for Luther to come back some time this year…❤

It definitely is 😊 hehe I understand that lol 😉 Ah I’ve not watched that- might give it a go 😉

hehe I can relate- that’s how I ended up watching all of Last Kingdom 😉

I started reading the books years ago, before the show. I found the first in the library when browsing for something new to read, and one book had me hooked! I’ve recently started reading the Winter King, which is an Arthurian series by Cornwell, just to hold me over until the next Last Kingdom book! Haha!

I keep wanting to read those! I love anything Arthurian. I need to find them in our library. Thanks for reminding me!! 😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
I haven’t gotten very far into it, but it doesn’t disappoint! Cornwell’s familiar style from Last Kingdom is there, but the characters are fresh and different. I’m not a big fan of Arthurian legends, but he does a good job of it.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh good! I like his writing style and had wondered if it would be the same series to series. I noticed he had several! He must do a good job if your not really a fan of the legends and still read them 😊 Some authors butcher the legends and it’s very frustrating, lol.

You won’t be disappointed, I think. I got the first of the Starbuck series for my dad, but he never said whether he liked it. I didn’t get a dance to read that one myself. But in the winter king, the style is the same, but the characters come across as original and not just copycats of uthred. Know what I mean? How some authors write all their characters from story to story so they all sound/feel the same? It’s not at all like that, so I’m glad. The only other Arthurian book I liked was by Morgan Llewellyn. I forget the name, but look her up if interested and give it a try. She goes in more for the mystical, but in a delightfully refreshing way. Cornwell downplays the magic.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean! It gets frustrating! It’s as if the author just recycles the character but gives them different names. Her name is familiar for some reason, but I’m sure I’ve not read her books. I’ll look her up! Thanks! 😊

Definitely want to read that series too! (although I have a way to go on the Saxon Tales as of yet 😉 )

The Saxon sagas is the old name of the last kingdom series. Looks like it underwent a few name changes, which really confused me at first! Haha!

Lmao. You are on a tag role! I feel like such a slacker. Round 4 is hands down the best round. Uhtred is so damn dreamy! I also like Round 2 cause I would have been pretty upset if you didn’t Sparta kick Ramsay off the cliff, haha.

Hahaha: this was such a seriously funny post. Loved reading these: and I definitely think Katniss would put up a fight alright: so, true, best thing to do is kiss her. (Marriage would be too much of a handful).
Marry Smaug though??? hmmmmmm……Don’t think I could do that for any reason. Better just kiss and get it over with lol 😂😂

I think Edward and Peter Pan stand a good chance of surviving the cliff. Who doesn’t want to throw Richard III off a cliff? I also agree with marrying Dracula.
Reneesme was a CGI baby? What? 😲 It makes sense, but I didn’t hear about this when the movie came out. I definitely wasn’t paying enough attention to the way films are made back then. Thank you for the tag.

LOL! I was like “I didn’t tag anyone when I did Kiss, Marry, Kill last week”, but this is from the year before. Took me a second to register hahaha
Mark Watney would seriously be one of the best husbands out there. Whenever I had the option, I married him in the tag. And I laughed so much about the Peter Pan answer. He CAN fly, so you are absolutely right. I always found book Peter highly annoying though.

Cool post. Gotta be honest though, as little as I would like to kiss Gollum, I think my desire to give Delores a hearty shove might just win out. Also, the only way I’m pushing that Orangutan off a cliff is if I’m a) using someone else’s arms or b) allowed to attach a bungee rope first. 😀

I’d so marry Smaug as well, and Atticus and also Gandalf and Aslan! No worries that one’s a dragon, one a lion-god and one an old wizard. It’s all good 😀
I hope Edward won’t survive this fall off the cliff! He might lie somewhere in a ditch and sparkle forever!

Right. The TV version definitely isn’t bad, and that’s one tubing I do like about the series— that they tried to do a good job matching actors to characters. But the book version is just so uber masculine, that there’s just no comparison! Haha!
