Hello all! I’ve got no preamble today- I just fancied doing a tag, cos I’m a blogger… which coincidentally is what this tag is all about!
Thank you so much to the awesome Angelica @Book Cover Girls, super Sam @Rivermoose Reads and the perfect Panic at the Bookstore for tagging me to do this!
1) Where do you typically write your blog posts?
At my desk. I know, exciting 😉 although my desk is something of a paper jungle right now, so it somewhat resembles my natural habitat 😉
2) How long does it generally take you to write a book review?
That really depends on the book! Also I’ve never kept track lol- I reckon some take under an hour, but I only remember the ones that I slaved over for wayyy too long (it took *hours* to write my post on the Gulag Archipelago for instance).
3) When did you start your book blog?
May 2015! Just before I finished my degree… which was not the best timing in the world.
4) What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
Not keeping up with everything and consequent blogging guilt! It’s a killer combination!
5) What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
ALL OF YOU GUYS!!!
6) What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
Probably one of my satirical pieces like Worst Fantasy Novel Plan or Why Satire is Evil. But I also loved doing my 3 year bloggiversary post on blogging and promoting some other bloggers, cos it was something different that I hadn’t done before.
7) What is your favourite type of blog post to write?
Hmm, while I have the most fun doing funny sorts of posts, I probably get the most out of discussion pieces. I get to think through my ideas, hear your ideas, and come up with new ideas after- which is like an idea-xplosion!
8) When do you typically write?
Usually in the early evening. Or the night. Or sometimes in the afternoon… I really didn’t have a good answer for this except to say *NOT IN THE MORNING*.
9) Do you review every book you read?
Nope- not even close lol- that’s why I try to talk about some of the other books in mini reviews (and I still don’t get to everything). I’m getting better though!
10) How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your fur baby?
TEA IS A MUST. I swear if I could open a vein and have a constant supply of tea, I’d do it (okay, that’s probably a bit far, but what can I say, I’m British and CRAZY ABOUT TEA 😉 )
Other than that, it really depends on the book (and how long I’ve been procrastinating over the review)
11) When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?
*Coughs awkwardly*. Honestly? It’s usually at least a month… Shocking- I know!! But that helps me plan my posts better and order my thoughts. I also can get a clear view about what I can talk about in mini reviews that way. But yeah, it’s rare that you’ll see my thoughts straightaway.
12) How often do you post?
That realllly depends on the week. Gonna make “it depends” my mantra after this post… except that’s not catchy, so not really 😉
Anyhoo, hope you enjoyed that chill post for a change! I tag:
Kat, Meggy, Book Beach Bunny, Katie, Jenna and Lashaan & Trang
Do you have any weird blogging habits you’d like to share? Are you a tea addict like me? Let me know in the comments!
There’s usually a big gap between me finishing a book and writing my review for it – to the point where I have to google character names because I’ve already forgotten them. I’d love to be one of those bloggers who plans everything out months in advance but…nahhhh. Also quite surprised you don’t do most of your blogging at 3am!

hehehe I so relate to that!! hehehe! I do plan- but never totally stick to it. At the weekends I do 😉

Yes I am a tea addict! Got that when I lived in London. But you write your review one month after???? Tell me you took plenty of notes because if I don’t write them right after I forget everything!!!

Yay!! I love how brits seem to have spread the love of tea across the sea 😉 hehehe yes. And yeah I do take notes- otherwise I couldn’t do it (I find it really frustrating if I lose them and have to remember everything lol). There is that downside though of it not being totally fresh and forgetting things.

Tea is a must! I also find it tough to find time for blogging as I am currently in my last year of university and I don’t have a lot of time to read so I find myself struggling to actually have books to review, which sucks because I really do love sharing ideas with other bloggers!

Love your answers! I’m also not a morning person! I mostly write my posts at Nights and sometimes in evenings. I also started my blog on 2015! It’s pretty difficult to review every book you’ve read. If i’m so far behind on my book reviews, I would do Mini reviews. It is the best solution!

Thank you!! *high five* lol! ooh snap!! Oh yeah I definitely do those too!

Blogging guilt is why I only follow 50’ish people. Any more than that and my feed is just overwhelming. And then I do that bad thing, you know….
*whispers*
just hit the “like” button without actually reading the post
I am so ashamed. When I USED to do that I mean…

I can understand that. hahahaa SHAME! hehe don’t worry- a lot of people do that. The thing is the trouble with guilt is it’s so unstoppable, that even if I do read a post and just like it, I’ll feel guilty that I’ve not put a comment. It’s so silly- which goes to show why blogging guilt is daft.

That blogger guilt is real. I usually ignore it though, but I haven’t been on here in a while and now I’m behind on posts and commenting. 😥

Ah it really is! I really relate unfortunately- but we all go through it and luckily no one in the community judges 🙂

I love tea too. Especially ginger tea. Or green. Mint? I think you get the idea of my love for it. 🙂

I think waiting often helps writing the review. Puts things in perspective. Like, you finish the book with “omg, 5 stars” and in 2 weeks it’s “yea, it’s a 4… if i’m generous”. 😀

Yeah I definitely think that too!

Great answers for this tag, I always love learning more about other bloggers on this site so I loved learning more about you as well. 🙂 I’m not a morning person either, most of my posts get written in the late afternoon/evening too. The only time I could say I was a morning person is if I stay awake too late and end up writing a blog post until 1am or something! 😀
The community is definitely what makes it worthwhile for me, and oh I am so behind on my reviews at the moment so it kind of makes me feel a little better than you don’t get around to your reviews until about a month after you’ve read the book. 🙂

I’m so bad at writing reviews haha. I never make notes so I end up forgetting the majority of the things I want to discuss. I find mini-reviews so much easier because I don’t have to go into too much detail haha!

hehe I can relate to that! And that’s why I like mini reviews as well! (although I sometimes seem to forget more for them or end up talking too much, so they become full reviews… can’t always get the balance right there either lol! 😉 )

Thank you so much! Great! I really don’t think it’s anything to feel guilty about- it’s just good to work to what suits you best 🙂 Although it’s also great to know that I’m not the only one that takes ages!! ❤

which is like an idea-plosion!…. hehehe too cute.
And given the whole British thing, the mainlining tea bit is pretty much expected. Lol. I never knew how many different types of tea there are until I lived in England… and I was also quickly informed of how wrong I drank mine 😂

hehe thanks! hahaha absolutely 😉 hahaha! 😂😂 I don’t even want to ask how you were drinking it wrong… but I have to now- how were you drinking it until my compatriots corrected you? 😉 (I might even disagree with them- lots of Brits can’t agree on the correct way to drink tea 😉 )
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hahahahahaha.
Well…. where to start on my corrections?!
First I was’t rinsing my mug out in hot water first, so my mug was too cold to begin with. 😄 Then back in those days I burnt off sugar easily and used to have as much as two teaspoons of the sweet stuff in my tea…. the horror!!!!!
And finally the type of tea, you know “like that crappy builder’s tea Lipton”. (Was what I was told) 😂😆
At least I didn’t leave the bag in! 😄
All that said… I do now enjoy loose leaf black tea, with never more than half a teaspoon of sugar, if any… in my pre-heated cup!!! 🙈😄
Coffee in the morning though. My head can’t work well enough for tea first thing out of bed!
LikeLiked by 1 person
hehehe wow the people you made tea around were fussy 😉 I’ve genuinely never heard the “mug is too cold” thing before 😂
ahh the horror!!! 😉 (but doesn’t everyone start off with tons of sugar in their tea- I had mountains in my tea for years 😉 ) Also that kind of reminds me of Turkish tea, which I love.
Ah yeah Lipton is crap- sorry! 😂😂 I agree with them there.
Well then- no real crimes were committed 😉
hehe fair enough!

Yes, I am a tea addict as well! I’m American so I’m not sure how that happened because most people seem to prefer coffee over here. But I really think tea is so much more versatile that coffee. Love a good high mountain oolong, but also right now I’m really into Earl Grey. 🙂
