Hello all! It’s been a while since I did a tag and there’s so many fantastic end-of-year ones to choose from- this one particularly looks like a lot of fun!! Thanks so much to the wonderful Jill Jemmett and the lovely Beth @Reading Every Night for tagging me to do this one! They’re both fantastic bloggers who have so much wonderful bookish content and you need to check them out! And a special extra *thank you* goes out to Jill, for sending me this beauty (which I received today!!!) for winning her 1000 follower giveaway:
The Rules
- Tag & link the person who tagged you.
- Tag and link Jenniely’spost, for she’s love to read everyone’s answers!
- Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done (ticks = naughty, crosses = nice)
- Tag another 10 people.
- Received an ARC and not reviewed it
Errr do samples count? I’m gonna say no- just cos.
- Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
Nope!
- Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
I rarely put my comments on GR- let alone review- so this was a safe no.
- Folded down the page of a book
*Coughs awkwardly* yeahhhh. To be fair, it’s a great way to do references for non fic (and mark pages to go back to later in general).
- Accidentally spilled on a book
Nope! What kind of philistine do you think I am? (to be fair, considering how much tea and hot chocolate I’ve drunk over my books in the last year, I reckon I’ve been incredibly lucky not to have done this)
- DNF a book this year
Yeah I DNF’d and I’m proud of it! After struggling through half of it for a month, I finally decided to call it quits. I actually consider my inability to DNF one of my weaknesses as a reader and have been trying to get better at it- if achieving that goal puts me on the naughty list then so be it!
- Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
Err I’ve definitely cover bought, but I always intend to read it (even if I never do)- so gonna go with nice for this.
- Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
*Looks around guiltily*. Oh come on, you’ve all done this. Don’t pretend you haven’t.
- Skim read a book
Errr yeah- that’s what happens when you refuse to DNF really lousy books.
- Completely missed your Goodreads goal
Hehe well considering I didn’t really have a goodreads goal, it’s pretty hard to fail this one.
- Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library
Okay I’m overthinking this question, because I *always* have books on the go from the library, but I also *always* make sure they’re renewed/returned on time. So I’m going with a tentative no?
- Broke a book buying ban
What ban? Okay- never mind- you can all see through the pretence. Guilty as charged.
- Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about
Hahaha I’ve done this for mini reviews and then end up with two lines of comments- I think it’s fairly obvious 😉
- Wrote in a book you were reading
I don’t actually think I’ve done that this year… wow, that’s a first.
- Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
Oh no, I’m basically compulsive about Goodreads. I finish a book, I put it on there.
- Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
NO! The horror, the horror. I’m basically a saint when it comes to borrowing books from friends 😉 (but also don’t like to do it cos it makes me STRESS so much)
- Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
Hahaha! All. The. Time. Unless it’s to my sister- then the answer’s always “after I’m done with it” 😉
- Broke the spine of someone else’s book
Nooooo! That would be too cruel. As bad as I am with a lot of my own books, I hate the idea of ruining someone else’s books. If I borrow a book from someone I’m going to be squinting at the half-opened pages rather than spoil it (also, again, I’m mostly too afraid to borrow people’s books)
- Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
Ahhh this happened to me and it was really sad!! I had to take my Muse of Nightmares out with me (alright I technically have to, I wanted to, cos I was reading it and it was amazing, okay?!) and so I decided to leave the dust jacket behind so it wouldn’t get ruined. But I couldn’t leave it out, so I put it in a drawer, consequently forgot it was in said drawer… and crumpled it when I took it out. Not too badly, but still. I feel like I was punished enough for this one- sadly Santa doesn’t feel the same way so it’s onto the naughty list *sigh*.
- Sat on a book accidentally
Sounds like me (regular Bella Swan me #sorelatable) but I don’t remember this specifically, soooo no?
Final Score: 8/20
Well, with some very careful interpretation of the questions I’m on the nice list! Although I feel like that said interpretation might be why I kinda deserve to be on the naughty list… let’s not think about that!
Cos I’m naughty at heart, I’m not gonna tag a lot of people, just:
Drew, Sam, Rivermoose, Kat, Bookstooge, Katie and Cozy Pages
And to everyone else- do you reckon you’d be on the naughty or nice list? Let me know in the comments!
He he, I can relate to quite a few of your answers. I use dog ears as well by the way, I have an opinion that books are meant to be used – I write into them, highlight them, fold their pages… never actually torn any pages out yet though despite being tempted many, many times.
I think I would sit somewhere in the middle of that scale. Fun post to read! 😊👌

hehe thank you! I totally agree with you- I really like “lived in” books as well, so I definitely fold down the pages (and I write in them too- but for some reason didn’t annotate any this year- I blame my kindle cos I annotated loads on there)
Awesome! Thank you! 😊 ❤

I’m on the nice list for this particular set of questions, but that’s just these… 😉
Having worked in a library, I never dog ear book pages. I still remember days where I spent way too long compulsively un-folding pages someone else had dog-eared.

hehehe well that’s all that counts 😉 Let’s pretend there are no other metrics 😉
Ah now that sucks- ouch! (if it’s any consolation I don’t do that to library staff!)

Yeah, some people can be really mean to library books. I don’t understand that line of thinking personally, but… *shrug*

Good job not finishing a book! That is hard for me too, but I think its good not to if you don’t like the book!

I’m definitely on the Bad List. Any thing with more than one reference to GR makes me want to see a man about a horse, all over said tag.
Of course, I bet with some love and tender care, one could really turn this tag on its head. Hmmm…

hahaha fair enough!
hahaha that would be fun to see (and may just be why I tagged you 😉 )

LOL this post made me laugh haha. I can definitely relate to skimming through a book that I badly want to DNF 🙂

That was fun! I am somewhere in between but I always choose naughty (I’d make a great villain)! Most of your answers are so relatable!

I loved, loved your answers… I have this tag to be done, I have forgotten who tagged me and I don’t know how to get back to whoever tagged me… 😂 😂
I think I am going to come in naughty list hehehe unless l use your method to interpret the questions😂😂

Thank you!! hehehe!! LOL! I look forward to your answers! And thanks 😉

Couldn’t agree more with #16. Borrowing books used to stress me out so much that I’ve stopped doing it for years. And now I’m really curious to know- which book(s) you DNF this year? 😀

Ah I’m glad I’m not the only one tbh. Oh it was mysteries of udolpho- it took me a month to read half of it and I just wasn’t enjoying it!

You’ve done really well this year! I’m amazed at how you’ve never spilled anything on a book before… But that’s because I’m a complete klutz xD
Grea tag and answers 🙂 I’ve been tagged for this one too and it sounds like a lot of fun!

Thank you! hehe well I have, but not in a really long time- which is as much a surprise to you as it is to me! 😉 Thank you! Awesome! Look forward to your post!

Fun post! I can definitely relate to dodging people when they ask to borrow books. I borrowed a lot of books to others when I was younger, and most of them came back in a condition that broke me whenever I looked at them

Thank you! glad I’m not the only one!! Yeah I’ve had that experience too- and even some books that never came back at all- it sucks!

Such a fun tag! I have this one to fill out myself, not sure where I’ll end up haha.

This is such a fun tag! I think I was six or seven under the naughty list when I did it. I barely review anything on Goodreads so even I would never promise a review to come cause that is not going to happen. Need to work on DNFing though. It would probably be better for me 🙂

Thank you! well that’s good!! hehe totally understand that 😉 Yeah I relate there!

Fun answers for this tag! I’m the same when it comes to reviews, I procrastinate SO much and by the time I need to review it, I’m just… writing two sentences and that’s it hahaha. 🙂

Thanks for tagging me! I’m looking for something to put out on Sunday, so this is nice and seasonal! 🙂
Loved your answers! I am also compulsive about goodreads, though perhaps a bit more than you since not having a goodreads goal and then meeting it is UNTHINKABLE for me. Haha

Thank you!! Ah totally understand that! I usually have one- but for some reason I thought it might be better for me this year and make me stop thinking about number of books read (this didn’t work lol 😉 )

Ha, yeah I feel like all of us have read books when we’re not supposed to (can we really call ourselves bookworms if we haven’t sneakily tried to get a few more pages in when we really should have been focusing on something else?!) Also I’m kind of in awe that you haven’t spilled anything on any of your books, I feel like me having anything food or drink wise near a book is just asking for disaster, but then again I am really clumsy so not that surprising. 😀
Great post, I loved reading your answers for this tag and I’m glad you decided to take part too. 🙂 ❤

hahaha so true!! We all do it! LOL! hehe well not recently- it’s kind of surprising to me as well to be fair, because I’m very clumsy too 😉
Thank you!! 🙂 ❤

That’s all right! 🙂 ❤

Just did this one yesterday. Lol. Thanks for the tag though. Here’s mine https://thecozypages.wordpress.com/2018/12/20/cozy-christmas-week-bookish-naughty-or-nice-tag/
Gotta say…. I like your interpretation of relegating it to this year only… hmm… I could redo mine… I’d be much nicer! Lol. And yeah… I’m totally going to work on DNF’ing for next year. I just feel so guilty!

hahaha well yeah- if I did this for all time I’d be naughty for sure!! But santa has to consider how much I’ve improved when it comes to this 😉 Ah I really relate!!

I still don’t know how anyone can read a book without breaking the spine – I hate not having full access to of all the page!
You’ve just reminded me that I’ve been tagged into this too – I’m sure I wrote the post and forgot to publish it, oops!

hahahaha well if it’s a new book I can get really weird about it and read at odd angles 😉 But most of my books are second hand, so I don’t worry about it too much 😉
Awesome- look forward to seeing your post then 🙂

Hahahah I have to admit that I’ve always found it amazing that you never got into the whole ARC thing, yet you’re probably THE most active and MOST popular blogger out here! 😮 I’m sure it’s a fully-self-conscious decision to not partake in that game too though hahah Nice to hear you’re still a nice orangutan! 😉

hehee wow that’s very flattering! But I’m sure I could place bets on some better, bigger bloggers (firstly one that starts with “book” and ends with “idote” 😉 ) Yeah it actually is a conscious decision though, as weird as it may be 😉
hehehe thanks 😉

Pfffft 😀 If anything, you are definitely my “idol” in regards to presence in the blogosphere, reading speed, reading knowledge and writing style. Especially that last one. If some day I can write with so much eloquence, I’d be a happier man! 😛
