It’s that time of the year again! You know the drill- I’m gonna say a bunch of resolutions I plan to do this year and then spend the whole year not doing them ๐
Bookish:
10 More Books from My Challenging list
I considered making this less because I didnโt manage to read 10 in 2018, but then I thought, whereโs the fun in that? I figured it would be more of a challenge this way ๐
10 Non-Fiction Reads
Again, I didnโt make it to 10 non fic reads in 2018, but I figure I have a whole year to try and hit this goal!
5 Rereads
Because I had so much fun doing this last year! I have some really fun books lined up for this one!
5 Poetry Collections
Cos, why didnโt I read any last year? Itโs gotta be the first year where I didnโt even pick up *one* collection- FOR SHAME!
Non Bookish:
Compile notebooks
Another old ‘un but a good ‘un. Not only does the weird part of my brain that likes organising get a kick out of it, but itโll make my life so much easier in the long run if I do this annually. There arenโt that many for me to go through this year, so it shouldnโt be too bad.
Complete another language on Duolingo
This is probably the most challenging one on the list and I could easily fail this due to lack of timeโฆ but no pain, no gain, right? I have previously completed two languages on there, yet the only way I ever seem motivated to go back and practice is if Iโm learning a new language at the same time. I actually enjoy doing this (even if I’m still far from fluent in the ones I’ve tried ๐ ) so why not? Plus, Duo keeps sending me messages saying it misses me:

THE DREADED EDITING
Okay, you got me, Iโm exaggerating for comic effect ๐ I not-so-secretly actually like editing. HOWEVER, Iโve never undertaken *so much* editing at once. In fact, I’m a little scared about reading my last WIP (it’sย not in good shape!!) I have so much to do in this regard, that I figure all the remaining points can be for this one!
And thatโs all Iโm doing this year! I decided to have some self-control and not add a bunch of resolutions I donโt plan on doing. Maybe Iโll add more goals as the year goes on instead of taking them off the list!
What do you think of my resolutions this year? Do you have any resolutions you plan not to do? Let me know in the comments!
Hahaha. Great resolutions. All the best with them all… especially the editing!! And I completely support the Duolingo/ language goal too ๐

I’m on duolingo too! Learning languages is very good for your brain. I have 3 friends who are native Portuguese speakers, so I’m learning Portuguese. How far have you gotten I’m on a 9 day streak!

It’s actually really lyrical. It sounds so different too Spanish it’s crazy. What language are you trying?

I love the “challenging books” idea! I’m doing four for a read along, I might add in another one for bonus points ๐. If you come across any good poetry collections can you let me know? I’m meant to be reading some for a reading challenge and I’m struggling to find something that takes my fancy (I know basically nothing about poetry).
Some interesting goals here – best of luck my lovely! ๐

Aw thank you! Oh that’s brilliant!! ๐ absolutely!! It’s been a while since I’ve read anything (although if you’re up for something random, I read an *incredible* Hungarian collection two years ago called All that still matters at all by Miklos Radnoti- it pretty much blew my mind- so yeah, I recommend that. Otherwise I’m old school with Keats or slightly more modern with e e cummings and Emily Dickinson) (hehe bet you wish you hadn’t asked now! ๐ )
Thank you so much!! ๐ โค

Love your resolutions!
You know, I read Plato’s The Republic and even thought I got through it, I had ti reaaaallllyyy push myself… and honestly, I can’t remember much of it… so, I am super intrigued once your intelligent self reads this so I’ll know whether i need to tackle it again and oay attention or just let it go XD It just sits on my conscious a bit, having read it but not remembering anything!
Duolingo! I know very few people who use the app… I’m currently on Russian and German but also Spanish and… yeah, I kind of use the app in spurts.. some times I can’t get myself off it, but then I don’t use it for months… weird! ๐ How great that you’ve finished 2 languages though! That’s ace!

Thank you!! Well that’s brilliant- honestly I’m scared of it lol- I don’t think I’ll have anything remotely smart to say about it! (and actually after you’ve said that I feel more scared lol!!)
Oh that’s brilliant!! I want to actually try Spanish- so that’s one I’ll have in common! ๐ I totally get what you mean about doing it in spurts- I always end up doing that too! Thanks!! ๐

hahaha, well no pressure with Plato hey ๐ yeah, i didn’t want to sound like a total dunce so I failed to mention that it was all just a sequence of words for me… but I am thinking/hoping and trusting that if anyone will make something out of this book, it’ll be you! ๐

Good luck with your 2019 goals! I think I would like to do a few re-reads this year myself. I’m thinking about re-reading a few favorite classics in audiobook format.
I actually thrive when I set goals and have them someplace that is easily visible. Last year, I only set 3 goals small goals, but this year I am going to have a pretty big list.
