Ever since I shared my bad reading habits eons ago, I’ve wanted the opportunity to clear my name and explain I do have some good habits too… mostly π That’s why I was super excited when the marvellous Mim Inkling tagged me to do this one!
#1 Reading *anywhere*
This can also be sorta bad, cos I’ve been known to walk and read… even in the street (yeahhhh I read dangerously, don’t do that). But it also means I get a lot of reading done, especially on commutes and travelling. I’ll happily squeeze reading into any part of my day if I can!
#2 Finishing series… eventually
Obviously, being a series finisher has had it’s downsides- I’ve definitely stuck with some series longer than I should, YET I can say that, even if it takes me years, if I commit to a series I am going to finish it dammit! (or maybe just buy the whole thing on kindle and say I will eventually π )
#3 I’ll read anything!
I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to genres/ideas/authors- so I’d gladly pick most books up. Doesn’t mean I’ll like them, but I’ll give them a go. That said, I’m getting better at…
#4 Picking books I know I’ll like
In part thanks to knowing my tastes better, however this is also largely thanks to all of *YOU*. Because of blogging, my average rating is going up and up. I find it so much easier to weed the duds out of my TBR and find some real gems I can genuinely get excited about.
#5 Using the library lots!

This is pretty self-explanatory: libraries are awesome + monkey likes to go to the library = good reading habit! And it also proves my point that you don’t have to break the bank to get reading!
#6 Contributing to the circle of book life
This is quite an involved one, so let me explain. Obviously, I love buying books, but I’ve also gotten to be something of an expert when it comes to unhauling (see exhibit A), and I’m also good at then purchasing other’s unhauled second hand books- thereby the Great Circle of Book Life continues!
#7 Being a book pusher
I freely admit to spreading book addiction! Sharing books and getting readers hooked on series is my jam- I cannot help myself your honour!
Okay I’m not sure I actually cleared my name there- some of these seem suspiciously like bad habits… I wonder if you guys can do any better- I tag:
Katie @Never Not Reading, Paperback Piano, Bookstooge, Lucinda, Kelly, Misty, Angelica, Rivermoose Reads, Bookmark Your Thoughts and Kristin
And anyone else that wants to do it! Also what’s your best reading habit? Let me know in the comments!Β
Love your answers! I’m quite envious of your ability to read anywhere because I can’t. I need complete silence to concentrate and get immersed myself in the story..

Thank you! ah I understand that- it makes sense

Such good habits! π I love reading everywhere too… Iβm working on my library habits as my book-buying is slightly breaking the bank…

Thank you!! π hehehe I can understand that π

Fist bump for libraries!
I do have to wonder why some of these are considered “good habits”. That “reading anything” one in particular seems rather fishy and almost subversive to me. I’ll have to ask Ildico what she thinks of it and what she’ll do about such habits should she become World Book Czar π ohhhhhh, you’re in trouble noooooooooww!

Yes!
hehehe well for me, it’s a good habit, but I know for a lot of people it wouldn’t be π hahaha definitely need to ask her now cos I want to know!!

Iβm such a pusher too! Awesome list!

Thanks for doing this tag!!!!!
Reading anywhere is such a great habit, as is unhauling books! I think it’s so important to pass along books, especially when there’s a chance other people will enjoy them!

Thanks for checking it out!! π
And thank you!! π Absolutely! I always hope that whoever gets my second hand books (especially the super popular ones) will get more out of them than I did π

You do have some seriously good reading habits! Though I have to say, I’ve always wondered who those people were reading as they walked – and its youuuu!

I wish I had all of these habits! The one I actually keep up with is #4, because I’ll pretty much only read something if I know I’ll like it! (Which means that I tend to be really picky, haha…)

Ahh that’s the best one tbh- it’s a habit I’ve only developed more recently, but I’m so glad I have, cos it means I read fewer and fewer duds. me too haha!

This is awesome. Thanks for tagging me! Now I just have to think of my good book habits… Hmmm…
I wish I was better at finishing series!

I have absolutely no problems with only reading I’m pretty sure I’ll like. I say “pretty sure” because you never truly know!

Yeah absolutely- but it’s a good habit to develop even more or less π

Yes! I can read anywhere too. My bad habit is I leave books unfinished when I lose interest in them even though they are not necessarily bad books

Awesome!! ahh I think that’s more of a good habit to be honest- I usually continue with books a lot longer than I should π

Thanks for the tag! I am also known to read literally anywhere, including in the car at red lights. It’s not hazardous if the car isn’t MOVING, right?

You’re welcome! hahahaha oh dear- I feel like just being a bookworm is hazardous now tbh π

I have a habit which is good and bad…I always finish a book even if I’m not really enjoying it. One, I don’t want to not finish something I bought. Two, I always think whether it will somehow redeem itself.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ah yeah I do that too- but I couldn’t decide if it was a good habit, so I just left it off π I’m the *exact* same though!

Libraries are the best!
I’m terrible at finishing series though – unless it’s all out when I find the book, I tend to forget about the next book in the series, no matter how I excited I was for the first (although I did finish The Bear and the Nightingale and all subsequent books!)

I think these are GREAT reading habits (especially because I have most of them, too π )!
That first habit is even more prominent with my sister than with me, though. She’ll pick up a book and in less than five seconds be entirely immersed, no matter where she is. It can be kinda frustrating trying to have a conversation with her at these times, but we’ve learned βΒ just keep the books away when you want to chat π

Thank you!! π
hehehehe that’s the sort of thing that irritates my sister too π She gets really irritated lol!!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haaaahaha! We’ve had to learn not to get irritated at it anymore β it will never change π The worst is when I’m in the middle of reading a book, put it down on a surface to do something else for a few minutes, and come back into the room to find her nose stuck in it! Moral of the story is never leave your current read unattended π

WHOO Libraries!! I’m also such a proponent of them, and these are such wonderful habits to have π

Ah reading dangerously! The most dangerous I read is if I try and cook and read at the same time. I’m not at all good at cooking and once set the grill pan on fire so I’m not allowed to do that any more.

Ooh cool tag & cool answers ^^ Reading on public transport is such an effective way to get a lot of reading done!! (I always get nauseous, but I try to read when I’m waiting for the train or something)

Ahh this is such a fun post and I love all of your habits here, that’s SO great that you can read anywhere! π I think I’m pretty good at picking up books I know I’ll like, too, all thanks to book blogging and knowing my taste a bit better, too π

Great tag, I also feel that I’m pretty good at picking up books that I know I’m going to love and I’m also really good a DNFing books that I’m not enjoying as I’m definitely of the mind frame that I can only read so many books throughout my life and I now refuse to waste time on ones that I don’t like π

Thank you. Ah I wish I was better at dnfing tbh- I’m so bad at that!!

Thank you so much for tagging me!! I can finally show that I have good reading habits to counter all the bad ones lol. And I am such a book pusher! I got one of my best friends and my cousin hooked on Six of Crows because I just wouldn’t stop talking about it and not so subtly pushing it in their faces and I regret nothing!

You’ve got some good habits β I particularly like #7, entirely for selfish reasons, because your book-pushing is often to my benefit π I’ve read a lot of great books because of your blog!
As for my best reading habit… I think it’s that I’m good at being strict with myself about not buying more books if I’ve got too many unread ones already. That might sound like a bad habit, but it’s not, because it actually means I try to read books faster so I’m allowed to go buy more π

heheheh I’m glad π That’s brilliant!! I’m so glad to hear it!! π
Oh that’s a fantastic habit!! hehehe I can understand that lol- if I ever see I have a smaller pile of books, I instantly feel like I want to get more π

These are all pretty good. I also read anywhere! Also sometimes to my detriment, haha. Whoops! Good on using the library! I use mine quite a bit, usually digitally these days, but I love libraries. π

Using the library and contributing to the “circle of life” (haha very nice way to put it there) is amazing! I’m trying to work on those things myself, but I share many of your good habits, such as reading anywhere (lol yes, it can be bad though) and sticking with series to the end (I mean, you never know if it’ll get better!). π Fun tag, and terrific answers!!

Love your unhaul habit too π I try to give them to friends, but they couldn’t care less… so they end up in the charity usually.

hahaha oops!! LOL!
Thank you! Oh yeah I definitely give books to friends as well- but they tend to be books I at least semi enjoyed or think other people will enjoy. But if they’re something I know no one I know wants, then it’s off to the charity!

Loved reading about your book habits – bad and good ones. π I’m not sure what kind this one is though: I just can’t read only one book at a time and am known for at least three books on my night table at any time that I read, not simultaneously of course, but during the day/night. π

hehehe thank you!! Ahh I do that on and off- I’ve no idea if it’s a good or bad habit either π
