Quote Challenges – Favourite First Lines: Day 1

Hello all! It’s been a hot minute since I did one of these quote challenges and as many of you know I like to put a bit of a spin on each one. For this one, I’m gonna be talking about beginnings. A lot of books are love at first line- but these ones are lines that have a special place in my heart. So I thought it might be fun to use the opportunity to talk about some of my favourite first lines and what they mean to me.

Also, since I have a lot of favourite first lines, I thought it would be good to do one for each of the people that tagged me, so there will be more than the prescribed three posts. Here are the rules (that I’m going to ignore because I’m a rebel 😉 ):

Rules

• Thank the person who nominated you

• Post a quote for 3 consecutive days (1 quote for each day)

• Nominate three new bloggers each day

Thank you so much to the lovely Journey into Books for tagging me to do this one- her blog is full of great reviews and she’s always doing a fresh take on weekly memes- definitely recommend checking her out!

I fell in love with this book when I was startled into laughter by this extraordinary first line. Such a perfect, perfect beginning for a quirky book about a family living in a dilapidated castle.

I tag:

And that’s all for today- catch you tomorrow!

Quotes Challenge- Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants Style: Day 1

Hello all! Happy Friday- I will admit, I’ve been really lazy today, for the very silly reason of having worked out a bit too much yesterday. My thoughts when I finished were something along these lines:

that's gonna hurt tomorrow.gif

And my thoughts when I woke up today were:

So anyway, I love this challenge, it’s one of my absolute favourite tags- which is why I’m super grateful to have been tagged by these *A-M-A-Z-I-N-G* bloggers:

THE RULES ARE:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post a Quote for 3 consecutive days
  3. Nominate 3 bloggers each day

Since I was tagged more than once and simply cos I like the number 3, I’m gonna share 3 quotes a day- cos, why not? Also cos I’ve been reading the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series, all the quotes will be taken from the ones Brashares includes in book 1. Enjoy!

Quote Challenge- Shakespeare Style: Day 8

This is it! I’ve reached the last day of this! As many of you know, I’ve been doing this for a few extra days so that I can thank the people that tagged me. And in honour of 400 years of Shakespeare, I’m solely quoting Shakespeare.

Here are my (altered) rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

Thank you so much to Embuhlee for tagging me to do this. She is absolutely one of my favourite bloggers out there- I adore her posts- she is so funny and entertaining to read! And she creates so many of her own tags and shares them around. I can’t recommend her enough!

And cos I’m expressing all this affection, I think I’d better end with one of the best quotes about love in the universe:

Quote Challenge- Shakespeare Style: Day 7

Hi all! So I’m coming to the end of my quote challenge! After this there will only be one more day and one last quote (*sobs*) so I better make these last two count.

As many of you know, I altered the rules slightly so I could properly thank all of the people who tagged me- and here they are:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

Thank you so much to Rant and Rave About Books– firstly how incredible is that name- because don’t we all love to do that? Secondly, she is really fun to read and has such fabulous advice- like her post about lending kindle books, which you can read about here. I highly recommend checking her out!

And since it’s my second to last day doing this, I’m going to share one of my all-time favourite Shakespeare quotes:

Wow- can’t believe I’ve actually managed to do this for 6 days! There’s not so many more days to go now (which is a good thing cos I might run out of quotes soon :p ) but I’m gonna keep at it till I’ve thanked everyone that tagged me!

So for all of you that don’t know, here are my altered rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

Thanks so much to I Wuv Books. Her blog is the most incredible blend of memes, lists and reviews- it’s such a fun place to hang out- so make sure you have a good look around!

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

Today I’d like to thank the Sherlockianbooklover for tagging me! I’m really excited to thank her cos she was one of the first people I ever followed on here and I’ve always loved her posts! Since she’s a huge Sherlock fan, here’s one of Shakespeare’s more mind-blowing quotes:

The (Three Day) Quote Challenge Continues: Day 4

I did warn you, didn’t I? This is going to go on a bit longer than 3 days, because as I said I still want to thank the other bloggers who tagged me. So here are my altered rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

And yes, you guessed it- this will still be Shakespeare Style– because I’m still celebrating 400 years of Shakespeare! (For anyone that wants to vote on their favourite/least favourite plays, my Shakespeare Awards are still up and running 🙂 )

Thank you so much to Vivi Heart Books– the incredible blogger who tagged me to do this! Her blog is so much fun and I love hearing all her thoughts about books!! She’s great for book recommendations too!

For such a wonderfully wide reader, I’ve decided to go with a beautiful quote from Richard II:

Three Day Quote Challenge- Shakespeare Style: Day 3

Woohoo I made it to day 3!!! Because I am super strapped for time I’m  super strapped for time, I’m not gonna go into the whole long schpiel of why I’m doing this (you can read about it here, here and here :p ) I’m just gonna get on with it!

Here are my (altered) rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

So firstly a huge thank you to Words and Lyrics for tagging me to do this! She writes some really lovely posts- her artwork for her latest post was awesome!- and because of that I’m choosing a stunning quote from Romeo and Juliet:

3 Day Quote Challenge- Shakespeare Style: Day 2

Alrighty then- welcome to the second day of my (overlong) Shakespearean quote challenge! As people that read my post yesterday know, I’m doing the quote challenge thanking everybody that tagged me individually. Oh and it’s gonna be Shakespeare themed cos in case you don’t know I’m running Shakespeare Awards where you can vote for your favourite Shakespeare!

Here are my (altered) rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for three consecutive days however long it takes
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day

So thank you so much to Bibliophile for tagging me to do it! And first off, let me just say that name is great- because don’t we all love books? And secondly I’m really impressed with how good this blog is considering how young Nikita is! Well done!

3 Day Quote Challenge- Shakespeare Style: Day 1

Hope you all enjoyed my post the other day- just to remind you the votes are still open for Shakespeare Awards- so if haven’t let me know your favourites you can still do so here. And since I’m still feeling the Shakespeare I figured it would be fun to do a Shakespeare-themed 3 day quote challenge!

I was tagged to do this so many times that I don’t just want to thank everyone in one big lump, so I’ve decided I’m going to thank everyone that tagged me one at a time. That means I won’t actually be done after three days- so here are my (amended) rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post a Quote for 3 consecutive days however many days it takes
  3. Nominate 3 bloggers each day

So firstly a huge thank you goes out to the awesome Bookmark Chronicles for tagging me to do this- I really enjoy her blog- particularly her awesome This or That section- I really recommend you check it out 🙂

And cos her posts are so fun, here’s a fun Macbeth quote:
